Allyson Puckett Joins the D.E. Scorpio Team

D.E. Scorpio is excited to announce the addition of our newest project engineer, Allyson Puckett, to the team! Allyson joins D.E. Scorpio after graduating from the University of Florida’s College of Design Construction & Planning with her bachelor’s degree in architecture after just three years. During her time as a student, Allyson also completed an internship for Hall & Ogle Architects, Inc. in Daytona Beach.  Allyson grew up in St. Petersburg where she attended the Admiral Farragut AcadePuckett, Allyson_5x7_3689-1my College Preparatory School and, as a senior, additionally interned for Harvard Jolly Architecture.

 

Allyson plans to continue her education at UF’s Rinker School of Construction to pursue a master’s degree while beginning her career in Construction Management. Allyson explains she was drawn to D.E. Scorpio because of the company’s experience in the field, positive impact and core values.

 

“I am excited to work for an organization focused on advancing the communities in which the employees live and work. Its mission aligns with exactly what I was looking for in a company. I’m very excited to build my career here, gain valuable experience and learn from some of the most talented individuals in the profession.”

 

Allyson’s proud parents are Laurie and David Puckett. She has one sister, Amanda who graduated from UF with her in the spring of 2017, and who is currently enrolled in flight school for the U.S. Navy.  When Allyson isn’t working or studying, she enjoys traveling, with 32 states and nine foreign countries already crossed off her list.  Please join us in welcoming Allyson as the newest member of Team Scorpio!

Domenic Scorpio is the president/CEO of the D.E. Scorpio Corporation and founded his company on the principal mission of advancing the communities they serve. He provides jobs where collaboration is fostered to elevate careers of employees in a family oriented environment. He enjoys watching others achieve their full potential of being good, contributing members to our community and achieving the successes they deserve for their families and for our community.

“I try to have a positive impact on the Greater Gainesville Community by giving selflessly, and by motivating, educating, and inspiring others to do the same,” Scorpio said.

Scorpio is a board member and former president of the Boys and Girls Club of Alachua County, a board member of Reeling for Kids and a board member and part of various committees for Builders Association of North Central Florida. He is also the executive committee member at the University of Florida School of Construction Management and a member of the advisory committee at Gateway Bank. Even more, he is a fiscal supporter of many nonprofits in greater Gainesville.

What is your go-to coffee order?

Strong and black.

Who had the biggest impact on your life?

Definitely my parents. They raised six boys and a girl and worked their tails off. They came here from Italy with four children not speaking a word of English. They instilled a lot of qualities including hard work, dedication and perseverance.

Anumba Announced as UF DCP Dean

On August 1, 2016 Dr. Chimay Anumba became Dean of the College of Design, Construction & Planning at the University of Florida. The D.E. Scorpio Corporation was honored to sponsor the reception welcoming him to our Gator Nation, hosted on August 25th at the home of Domenic and Holly Scorpio. Dr. Anumba has a doctorate in civil engineering from the University of Leeds and a doctor of science from Loughborough University, both in the UK, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Jos in Nigeria. For the past eight years, he served as a professor and head of Architectural Engineering at Pennsylvania State University.

Making a Difference for the Boys and Girls Club

This year’s “Doug Johnson’s Reeling for Kids Saltwater Challenge” raised $100,000! Donated toward the renovation of the Northwest Unit of the Boys & Girls Club of Alachua County, tournament participation and contributions will go a long way in making a positive impact on the lives of the children at the Boys & Girls Club of Alachua County.

Scorpio Corporation in 2015, received the City Beautification Board 2016 Award, reflecting “the commitment of many individuals to excellence in design” to projects of “outstanding aesthetic and artistic appeal” that result in the improvement of the area, property or neighborhood.
